A phlebotomist has been remanded after a city court heard that she allegedly stole raw gold and other articles amounting to over $1 million from her ex-boyfriend.

Jamila McCammon, 24, of Mc Doom Public Road, appeared before a city magistrate, where she was charged with theft.

It is alleged that on December 14, at Roxanne Burnham Gardens, she stole a cellphone, valued at $35,000, a quantity of clothes valued at $40,000, colognes amounting to $5,000, a gold scale valued at $2,500, and 3-ounces of raw gold valued at $920,000, from the dwelling house of Joseph Mitchell.

The magistrate denied bail after McCammon pleaded not guilty. She was remanded to prison until December 22.

It is alleged that on the day in question the woman went to Joseph’s home when he was not at home. She was reportedly allowed entry by his aunt, who resides upstairs. The woman then allegedly went into his room and removed the items.

When Joseph returned to his home, he noticed that the entrance to his home was open. He made checks and found that articles were missing. He made further checks and after raising an alarm with persons who were at the residence, Joseph

made a report to the police, who contacted McCammon. All the items except the 3 ounces of raw gold were recovered at McCammon’s home.
