Retired headmaster robbed by taxi driver

Retired headmaster of Baramita Primary School and former Probation Officer, Bissonnaut­h Bacchus, is requesting the assistance of the general public to find the driver of HC 4557 who reportedly robbed him in Prashad Nagar, Georgetown.

Bissonnaut­h Bacchus was robbed on Tuesday afternoon.

The man said he came to Georgetown to conduct some business and was staying at city hotel. He had purchased a bag of goodies worth $20,000 and was sending it home. He solicited the help of a friend to take it for him then joined a taxi bearing registrati­on HC 4557 and gave him his destinatio­n.

He noted that the driver kept asking him if he was going the right way to which he replied “yes.”

According to Bacchus, as he was approachin­g his street the driver took out a ‘chopper’ and demanded his bags, cash, and all his belongings. The retired teacher became fearful handed over everything while begging for his life.

After robbing him, the driver put him out of the car and drove away. A passerby lent him a phone and he called 911 and was directed to make a report to Prashad Nagar Police Outpost.

The victim related that the Outpost ranks promised to check for any surveillan­ce camera footage to assist in identifyin­g the suspect. However, to date he has not heard from the police. The taxi-driver, he said, made off with valuable documents including identifica­tion cards belonging to both him and his wife, his transport, Covid-19 vaccinatio­n card, spectacles,

Bissonnaut­h Bacchus and originals of teaching documents.

Bacchus is now clueless as to what his next move should be and is calling on the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security to assist during this difficult time.
