Paradise in heaven after 4-0 mauling of No. 28

-

It was an evening of contrasting victories, as Paradise and Rosignol advanced to the second round in the Region #5 leg of the One Guyana President’s Cup, which kicked off Sunday evening at the Rosignol Community Centre ground, West Coast Berbice.

Paradise made light work of No. 28, winning by a 4-0 score in a thoroughly lopsided encounter. The quartet of Royston McDonald, Keywan Mingo, Sheldon Toney and Colburn Mason were responsible for the aforementioned score-line.

Toney commenced the rout with an eighth-minute strike, which was followed by a McDonald conversion in the 35th minute. Mingo then got into the scoring act as he found the back of the net in the 45th minute. The result was sealed five minutes later when Mason etched his name on the scorer’s sheet.

On the other hand, the home side needled fierce rival No. #5 by a 4-3 scoreline on penalty kicks after regulation time, ended 2-2.

Prior to the eventual conclusion, Rosignol overcame a 0-2 deficit to level the contest. Falling behind to conversions from Paul McDonald and Atlyn Brown in the eighth and 19th minute respectively, the hosts restored parity to proceedings following a Neil Linton double.

Linton found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to reduce the deficit before making his presence felt once more in the 53rd minute to level the contest.

In the Region #10 section held at the Wisburg Secondary School ground, Linden, Block 22 downed Blueberry Hill 4-3 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Meanwhile, Queenstown mauled Saudis 7-0 at the Anna Regina Multilateral School ground in the Region #2 division.
