G/T whips East Bank by 306 runs in U15 inter-Associatio­n

Georgetown (GT) registered a second-round win over East Bank by a 306run margin as the Demerara Cricket Board Under-15 inter-associatio­n tournament continued at Queen’s College Ground on Saturday.

Georgetown won the toss and decided to take first strike where they piled on 365 for eight in their full quota. East Bank could only manage 59 for seven in 23 overs.

The city side was catapulted to the mammoth total on the heels of Emanuel Lewis striking 103 as his innings featured 10 sixes and three fours. Lewis added 166 for the third wicket with Trilok Nanan who carved six boundaries during his 52run innings.

Earlier, the foundation was laid by Lomar Seecharan who laced six fours before departing for 46 and Ravin Singh with 38 as the pair added 127 for the opening partnershi­p. With 77 extras, 48 of which were wides, Darwin La Rose and Brandon Henry were the only other batsmen to reach double figures with scores of 19 and 11 respective­ly. Ravindra Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-37.

In the chase, La Rose returned with ball in hand to take 2-9 while getting support from Ronaldo Pereira (2-15). Only skipper Roupie Rajaram managed double figures with 26 not out. He struck two sixes and two fours along the way.

East Bank also suffered a 170-run loss to West Demerara at Farm Ground earlier in the competitio­n.

East Bank won the toss and inserted West Demerara who made 221 from 41 overs. Shakar Ramesh top scored with 72 after the top order were dismissed cheaply. He got support from Mahendra Mohan who made 43.
