GMMAF congratula­tes Harris on victory

The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) has congratula­ted Guyanese combatant Carlston Harris on his unanimous decision victory over Jared Gooden at the Ultimate Fighting Championsh­ip (UFC) Fight Night 221 in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

This was disclosed by an official release from the federation.

According to the correspond­ence, “Carlton Harris’s UFC’s win is a testimony that having a great vision along with hard work and determinat­ion; can be a prison sentence to success. The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation wishes to congratula­te Harris on his superb win today. We recognize the sacrifice, discipline and dedication that Harris exercises in order to be successful.”

The release added, “Harris you have the fire in your heart and the assurance to take care of business. You will perpetuall­y be the encapsulat­ion of a champion to your nation! I wish you not to flee from challenges. Keep conquering them. We knew you could do it! Nothing can stop a man who desires to reach the top in sports. Congratula­tions on another awesome win. Make the most of your prosperity today, and anticipate a future! Continue to let the Golden Arrowhead fly high.”

Harris secured the result, after all three judges scored the fight 30-27 in the catchweigh­t encounter, after his opponent failed to make the required weight. It was third UFC victory in four outings.

The release stated that the entity is proud of the commitment and dedication displayed by Harris in honing his craft, adding that his success serves as an inspiratio­n to the country, as he continues to represent the flag with honour
