German’s onboard with Rawle Toney 3×3 Basketball Classic

-

German’s Restaurant became the latest entity to throw its financial support behind the annual Rawle Toney 3×3 Basketball Classic, which is slated to commence tomorrow at the Burnham Court on Parade ground by donating an undisclosed sum.

The simple but significant presentation occurred yesterday at the establishment’s New Market Street location.

Proprietor and sports enthusiast Clinton Urling stated that sports have always been a strategic pillar for the company, which has a history of donating to various disciplines, noting that sports have the capacity to have an exponential impact on the society.

According to Urling, one aspect of sports management that is often overlooked is that organizers are not credited enough for providing the opportunities and avenues for players to display their talents, adding that more organizers are required and needed once they employ a transparent and accountable policy.

He further stated that the company is always honoured to support sporting events and activities.

Meanwhile, Toney indicated that the company’s contribution, which was initiated by the owner, is very significant, noting that the tournament is primarily driven by the donations of the

corporate sector, and that more commercial aid of this nature is required for the continued development of sports.

The event will be staged over the course of two days [March 18th and 19th] at the Burnham Basketball Court, Parade ground. The tournament is expected to have an international flavour, as clubs from Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and St. Lucia are scheduled to participate.

The winner of the tournament will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy, with the runner-up and third-place finisher pocketing $200,000 and $100,000 respectively. The Most Valuable Player will receive a motorcycle from Rocks Auto and Spare Parts. Meanwhile, MVP Sports will outfit the competing teams with complete uniforms.
