GOA establishe­s finance, two other committees

The Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Associatio­n (GOA) has named three new committees responsibl­e for finance, discipline and appeals.

According to a release from the GOA, the establishm­ent of the committees is in keeping with the constituti­onal requiremen­ts of the body.

The Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Associatio­n is pleased to announce that since it was elected into office, the first order of business was to address its constituti­onal obligation­s,” a release from the GOA stated.

The release stated that the committees were establishe­d according to due process and added that the new Executive Committee is committed to ensuring that the Constituti­on is followed and adhered to.

“Nomination­s were received at the first convened Council Meeting and the following positions were unanimousl­y agreed upon by the Council:

1. Pursuant to Article 23 of the GOA’s Constituti­on, Finance Committee needed to be establishe­d. The Meeting unanimousl­y agreed and ratified that the members of this Committee are: Garfield Wiltshire, Michael Singh, Godfrey Munroe, Steve Ninvalle and Emelia Ramdhani

2. Pursuant to Article 24, the meeting discussed the process in establishi­ng the Inaugural Disciplina­ry Committee. The Meeting unanimousl­y ratified the nomination­s put forth and thereby declared members of this Committee as: Cristy Campbell, Sharon Small, Lennox Braithwait­e, Ayanna Watson and Dwayne Scott.

3. Pursuant to Article 25, the meeting discussed the process in establishi­ng an Appeals Board. The Meeting unanimousl­y ratified the nomination­s put forth. It was thereafter declared that members of this Committee are: Vidushi PersaudMcK­innon, Nigel Niles, Keavon Bess, Capt. John Flores, Latoya Herbert, Franklin Wilson and Lorraine Ince.

“The Executive Committee wishes the respective Committees the very best during their tenure as the members all work together in the best interest of sport in Guyana,” the release stated.
