Barbadian boxers ink contracts for return of the Scorpio card

The ‘Return of the Scorpio’ Pro/Am boxing card is continuing to gather steam ahead of the event scheduled for May 21 at the National Gymnasium.

Yesterday, the ink dried on the contracts of the Barbadian boxers while the local pugilists will sign their respective contracts today.

This is according to Seon Bristol, CEO of Briso Promotions.

Bristol told this publicatio­n yesterday that today’s contract signing will commence at 13:00hrs at the 704 Sports Bar.

The signing will effectivel­y seal the deals and will virtually put an end to weeks of speculatio­ns and verbal sparring ahead of the highly anticipate­d fixture which will kick start the profession­al boxing calendar for 2023.

US based Elton Dharry is scheduled to headline the card with Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques as the co-feature.

Dharry will face Ronald Ramos in an eight round bantamweig­ht fight while Marques will take on Ramos’ Colombian countryman, Luis Carrillo also in an eight-round bout in the bantamweig­ht division.

Another Colombian, Darianis Garcia will match gloves with Panama’s Natalya Delgado in a six-round super flyweight female fight.

The undercard will also feature local prospects Terrence Adams and Anthony Augustin Jr. They will face the Bajan pair of Ricardo Blackman and Anderson Emanuel. The amateur segment is set to feature Abiola Jackman, the Internatio­nal Boxing Associatio­n (IBA) world-ranked female pugilist, taking on Trinidad and Tobago’s Leeann Boodram. Other elite amateur pugilists namely, are also set to take the ring.
