Cevons’ Waste employees nabbed attempting to smuggle contraband into Lusignan Prison
to Prisons Director, Gladwin Samuels a black bag with several packs of cigarettes along with other prohibited items, suspected to be marijuana, in black plastic bags and sealed with brown scotch tape were found in their possession on Thursday morning.
The three men were at the scene to conduct waste disposal services when they were found, after being searched, with the items concealed in a haversack.
The waste disposal company has since distanced itself from the incident, citing the behaviour of the employees fingered as “embarrassing” and against the image of what the company stands for.
The Lusignan Prison is presently housing hundreds of prisoners from the Camp Street Prison which was damaged significantly during the July 9, conflagration and unrest.
Investigations are ongoing.
