Actualmente cuenta con recorridos, de hora y media, organizado por la oficina de turismo de Puerto Cortés. El precio es de L 50.00 e incluye el recorrido en el canal de Chamber, que está en la misma laguna. For those seeking adventure in Puerto Cortés, La Sabana is the ideal place. You can book tours for up to 10 people for a total of L 1,000. The tour includes a boat ride at the mouth of the Chamelecón River, better known as “the Chamelecón Riverbank” along its mystical scenery. It is advisable to embark on this journey very early at 7:00 AM or by the afternoon at 3:00 PM. The tour can last about an hour, and even better it can be extended to two visits, in case you want to take a tour to the village to enjoy the daily life of the community such as horseback riding, drink coconut water or even fishing. Allí, debe preguntar por el camino de tierra que lo llevará directo a la comunidad de Buenos Aires, en la zona de amortiguamiento del parque. Le llevará cerca de una hora hacer este recorrido, subiendo la montaña. Para que no se pierda, fíjese que debe de pasar por unos tanques de almacenamiento, propiedad de Aguas de San Pedro Sula. Un vehículo de doble tracción es necesario. Desde Buenos Aires a la zona núcleo del parque y punto de partida de los senderos, existen 5 km (3 millas). El patronato de la aldea posee un eco-albergue y ofrece guías para los viajeros. Se puede comer en la casa de doña Aracely Bueso o con la familia Alvarenga.
Cusuco National Park is one of the richest protected areas of biodiversity in Honduras. According to the survey conducted in 2007 by the University of Nottingham, England 270 species of birds, 93 species of reptiles and amphibians, 35 species of bats and a considerable number of species of mammals have been identified in the park. If you decide to visit Cusuco from its southwest border (which is the best known access), take the western highway (which leads from San Pedro Sula to Copán) and enter to the small town of Cofradía. There ask for the dirt road that will take you directly to the community of Buenos Aires and close to the buffer zone and visitors center. It will take about an hour to make this journey.
