LA ESCALINATA DE LOS JEROGLÍFICOS

Uno de los sitios mas admirados por los visitantes se encuentra al final del campo de pelota. Es reconocida universalmente como el texto jeroglífico más extenso del nuevo mundo. La escalinata forma parte del templo 26, esta majestuosa edificación fue construida, por lo menos en su forma final, por el decimoquinto gobernante de Copán en el año 755 d.c. Aunque no ha sido descifrada en su totalidad, las numerosas investigaciones realizadas han demostrado que el texto narra la historia dinástica de la ciudad así como los hechos relevantes de los ancestros monárquicos.

One of the most admired sites by the visitors, is at the end of the ball field. It is universally recognized as the most extensive hieroglyphic text of the new world. The stairway is part of the temple 26, this majestic building was built, at least in its final form, by the fifteenth ruler of Copán in 755 AC. Although it has not been deciphered in its entirety, the numerous researches carried out have shown that the text narrates the dynastic history of the city as well as the relevant facts of its monarchical ancestors.
