Ciudad fundada en las faldas de la montaña de Celaque, tras la muerte del emblemático héroe nacional el Cacique Lempira, ultimo bastión de la resistencia indígena que luchó por mantener y resguardar la identidad de su pueblo. Gracias es una ventana perfecta para conocer a los descendientes del grupo indígena más importante que encontraron los españoles en tierras hondureñas, los lencas. Hasta la fecha el espíritu colonial permanece reflejado en su costumbres, gastronomía y su arquitectura. City founded in the foothills of Celaque mountain, after the death of the emblematic national hero the Cacique Lempira, last bastion of the indigenous resistance who fought to mantain the identity of his people. Gracias is the perfect window to know more about the descendants of the most important indigenous group that the Spaniards found in Honduran lands, the Lencas.
