Honduran cuisine is full of flavor, history and above all diversity. These three elements have made it part of the tourism base of Honduras. Eating is no longer perceived only a san e ce ssity,b utas a memorable ex peri en ce creating closure to the inspiration circle of any traveler and tourist. Going through every corner of our country has been ourgoal,th is to introduce ourflavors, ing re di entsand gas trono micinfluenc es. In this first special edition we start with the tour of the northwestern part of Honduras passing to the center and south, we share the flavors of both coasts that bathe our land and promote the culinary roots of each of the 10 departments of this corridor. We identified and collected the data of some of the most emblematic restaurants, cafeterias and dishes that define the essence of each place. We began by discovering the Caribbean flavors of the Bay Islands where seafood predominates with some Creole and Garifuna flavors. In Choluteca as well it is possible to enjoy the flavor of its coasts, where seafood is also a star, however the taste is different thanks to the volcanic sand mountains. We also looked for those “Catrachos” (how Hondurans are known) document the kitchen, to help create even more amazing experiences for each department’s dish. Their way of cooking, their secrets when preparing the food and especially the use of local ingredients make the Honduran gastronomic tourism unique. The culinary offer must be based on high quality local products and the cultural and culinary heritage of every destination. This type of tourism allows visitors to connect with the local culture in a more personal and participatory way. Through this magazine you will know and help us promote the gastronomic route of Honduras, which will undoubtedly grow into a second edition to cover the whole country and specially to include every exponent of our cuisine. Let’s make our gastronomy great through this type of tourism and also a new powerful motivation to travel. Tania Nuila, Honduras Tips
