Stunning and beautiful, so is the Lago de Yojoa. Just 123 km from Tegucigalpa and 71 km from San Pedro Sula, the Lago de Yojoa is an a- ttraction not only for tourists, but also for Hondurans. A scenic oasis, as many will say, the Lago de Yojoa has a length of approximately 16 km and is surrounded by large mountains that reach heights of 2,600 meters above sea level.

Lago de Yojoa offers endless activities to spend several days in the area. One of its main one is bird sightseeing, which is considered to be world class. The last species count in the lake is 485, more than 55% of the total birds in Honduras, with the elusive quetzal included. In addition, you can walk along various hidden trails until you reach stunning remote waterfalls, visit coffee plantations and go kayaking on the lake, among other extreme sports such as the canopy in the Pulhapanzak Waterfalls. The place has a diverse selection of hotels or cabins for the night.

Whether you want to sleep on the lakeside and marvel at the beautiful view, or among the mountains and hear the sound of birds in the morning, the Lago de Yojoa is an awesome place with plenty to offer.

In addition, it has numerous dining options, from small restaurants by the lake where you can enjoy a delicious fish and a spectacular view, to restaurants and bars with national and international options in their menus. It´s possible to swim in the lake, but it is shallow and full of vegetation. Due to its tourist attractions, natural beauty and climate, this destination lends itself mostly, for hiking, bird watching, agrotourism, cultural tourism and camping, among others
