LA CEIBA Gets the nickname Of ''honduras Girlfriend¨ BECAUSE Of its SPECTACULAR beauty.

-

La Ceiba, also known as the capital of ecotourism or “Honduras girlfriend”, is an impressive city that combines urban and nature. Located in the North of Honduras, is a coastal city with a lot to offer, with a festive atmosphere surrounded by nature.

Its creation dates back to 1877, but its development occurred in the twentieth century due to banana activity, being a key city-port for the export of bananas to North America. La Ceiba acquired the title of municipality on August 23 of 1877 and its first mayor was Mariano Guiraud of French origin. The name of the city is due to a gigantic Ceiba tree that rose on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. The grandeur of this tree was so impressive that the first Garífuna settlers from the island of St. Vincent, claimed that it was the ladder God used when he came down from heaven to visit Earth.

La Ceiba is considered the third most important city in Honduras. With an impressive mix between beach and city, La Ceiba continues to grow and modernize to an accelerated level.

The atmosphere of the city continues to attract different industries that decide to bet on the fast growth of the place. Hotels, restaurants, modern shopping centers and different shops are part of the city. But that is not all, if you prefer to spend time in nature, you can take a walk along the boardwalk called “Paseo de los Ceibeños”, visit the Butterfly Museum, venture into the Pico Bonito National Park or practice rafting in the Rio Cangrejal, among many more.

La Ceiba is so diverse that you’ll never run out of options to have a good time.
