It’s incredible to think what can be created from a handful of stones and some precious metals. And year after year, the pieces that come out of the world’s jewellery and watchmaking workshops only seem to get more exquisite and extraordinary.
So it’s only fitting that we present you with the inaugural Hong Kong edition of Adore, an annual magazine presented by Prestige and dedicated to the best in gems, jewellery and timepieces for women.
We kick things off with Findings, a compendium of news, announcements, exhibitions, auction results, product launches and more from the glittering watch and jewellery universe.
We also dedicate 24 pages to this year’s high-jewellery collections from the likes of Chanel, Chopard, Louis Vuitton, Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels. Each collection is dazzling in its own way, whether inspired by a legendary love story or the sparkling night sky over the desert.
Grace Tay also reports on the latest luxury brand to make a splash in the high-jewellery sector. Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele unveiled his collection in Paris in July, replete with flowers and animals in signature lavish style.
And as further proof that jewellery truly is an art form, we meet a collector who has acquired around 200 rings, necklaces and other pieces by famous painters and sculptors such as Pablo Picasso, Jeff Koons and Niki de Saint Phalle.
On the watches front, we check out the latest models from Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Omega, Richard Mille and many more. While the styles may be vastly different, all share an incredible level of sophistication and craftsmanship.
So too do the high-jewellery timepieces we’ve presented, which take design and gemsetting to even greater heights. Whether you have the opportunity to wear any of the pieces in these pages or simply choose to admire them from afar, I think you’ll agree that there really is much to adore.
