An Auspicious Anniversary
Franck Muller celebrates its 25th birthday in style at WPHH
Injust 25 years, Franck Muller has built a formidable reputation for crafting watches that harmoniously fuse smart contemporary styling with an unparalleled mastery of watchmaking complications. The brand celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special gala dinner at the World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie 2017 in Geneva, an event held at the 18th-century Château du Grand Malagny. Brand founders Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes and group director Nicholas Rudaz welcomed 600 guests before the trio introduced two new Franck Muller watches that perfectly illustrate why the brand has flourished during its quarter century of history.
Dashing, sporty lines and a dramatic openworked dial characterise Franck Muller’s new Vanguard 7 Days Power Reserve Skeleton. The in-house calibre FM 1740 manually wound mechanical movement is fully visible through the skeletonised dial, with the eye equally drawn to the bridges that form a stylish X shape across it. A smart seconds hand counter at 6 o’clock is also skeletonised, appearing to float above the X and the dial. The case is available in a choice of carbon, titanium with PVD treatment, stainless steel or 18k gold; and, as the name suggests, the watch comes equipped with a seven-day power reserve.
Restrained elegance, luxurious materials and technical sophistication come together in the form of the new Lady Moon Phase, on which a glowing moonphase indication at 6 o’clock forms the charming centrepiece. This most loved of complications is picked out using the most precious of stones, with a setting showcasing 41 diamonds. It sits on a subtle sunburst dial that features the brand’s signature elegant appliqué serif numerals around the edge. The Cintrée Curvex case, available in 18k white or rose gold, or stainless steel, comes studded with unbroken lines of diamonds: 168 of them in total, weighing in at 1.84ct.
