STATE OF THE ART
Graff further enriches its already dazzling watch line- up with a selection of jaw- dropping sparklers
SINCE ITS ESTABLISHMENT in 1960, London- based jeweller Graff has been synonymous with the most fabulous jewels.
In the past decades, the brand has built on its expertise in jewellery to infi ltrate the world of horology with both jewellery timepieces and highly mechanical watches featuring outstanding techniques and unparalleled materials.
Paying homage to the late American artist Cy Twombly and his energetic calligraphic work, the Inspired by Twombly watch captures the spontaneity of the artist’s brushstrokes with a sculptural loop design that showcases a diamond- pavé dial in a nest made of gem- set ribbons. It sits elegantly on the wrist, effortlessly showing off its three- dimensional qualities. Meanwhile, the Emerald and Diamond Secret Watch enlists oval emeralds and diamonds set in a skeleton of white gold to maintain a feminine, almost art deco- inspired look that hides a tiny kite- shaped dial.
Graff further demonstrates its savoir faire with two spectacular dials. The Gyrograff China Temple of Heaven, at 48mm, is an ode to its namesake landmark and features delicate gem- setting, miniature painting and hand- engraving that requires more than 100 hours of work and results in a complex, three- dimensional dial incorporating a spherical moonphase and a double axis tourbillon, all set against an aventurine dial.
Similarly, the Gyrograff Endangered Species watches rely on the same case, diamond bezel and aventurine dial as a foundation for fi ve endangered species to come alive by way of diamond marquetry. Each unique dial features between three and six gold mounts, on to which numerous black and white plaquettes are placed, for a scattered depiction of an elephant, gorilla, panda, tiger or rhino.
