Cathay

CAPE ESCAPES

ASIAN TRAVELLERS ARE

famous for their stamina and ability to cram a lot of stuff into a travelling day. The most extreme itinerary I ever enjoyed – and, if I’m honest, endured – started in Cape Town. The challenge was to eat every single kind of Cape cuisine in a day. We started at dawn with a Boer breakfast, followed by a Cape Malay curry at 11, a classic French lunch then an equally classic English afternoon tea, rounded off with an early, and huge, dinner in the townships.

I’d be interested to see how Hongkongers, with their equally famous ability to consume heroic amounts of food without putting on a single gram of weight, respond to the Cape Town food challenge when the new Cathay Pacific route starts this month. But as our feature on page 34 shows, there are plenty of ways to work off the calories in this most sumptuous and action-packed of destinations.

THE NEXT ISSUE

of Discovery, onboard from 1 December, will be a special one for us. We’ve invited our Marco Polo Club members to vote for the best and most exciting destinations, hotels and experiences in Asia. We trialled the idea in 2017 and the response bowled us over. We hope the Marco Polo Club Members’ Choice Awards will become a regular, eagerly anticipated fixture in the calendar. If you don’t happen to be flying that month, you can find the results at discovery.cathaypacific.com.

cathaypacific.com找到票選結果。
