Music is a major theme in this month’s Discovery. And it’s also a strong theme in the entertainment selection. We’ll celebrate the work and lives of well known and not-so-famous artists – including some appearing at Hong Kong’s Clockenflap festival.
This month, we have an exciting line-up of programmes that celebrate music of all genres, from Cantopop to classical.
Formed in the 1970s, The Wynners are still considered one of the most iconic and influential bands in Cantopop history. Drummer Anthony Chan – also a respected film director, producer and actor – revisits the band’s story with House of the Rising Sons. The humorous, pseudo-autobiographical film fondly looks back on how the band was formed, including rehearsals in an illegal rooftop space, and the obstacles the members faced on the road to fame.
Fans of Abba can rejoice as Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the long-awaited sequel to the hit 2008 musical, comes to our screens. Like its predecessor, Here We Go Again is another joyous romantic comedy featuring songs by the legendary Swedish pop group. In addition to original cast members Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters, Lily James and Cher also join in on the fun.
Be sure to also check out our new Concert section in the TV menu, featuring live performances from some of music’s biggest names. This month’s additions include a concert by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela at the Paris Jazz Festival (read more about him on page 54), an episode of concert series Austin City Limits featuring Coldplay, the Los Angeles leg of K-pop showcase KCON 2018 and Taiwan’s 2018 Golden Melody Awards.

Rock’n’Roll Guns for Hire: The Story of the Sideman tells the story of the unsung heroes of the stage. They include vocalists and instrumentalists who worked alongside the likes of Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Prince without any mainstream recognition. The film will make you look at concerts in a very different way.
Once again, we’ve compiled a playlist featuring music from this year’s Clockenflap acts, including Interpol, David Byrne, Cornelius and Bohan Phoenix. We’re also carrying Hong Kong indie band GDJYB’s self-titled debut EP, which you can read about in this month’s audio column on page 89. 音樂是本《月 Discovery》的一大主題，亦是常非 受歡迎的機上娛樂之選我。 們將同時聚著焦 名及較為陌生的音樂人的事業和生活，當中包括一些即將在香港 Clockenflap 音樂節表演位的單 。

於1970年代成立的溫拿樂隊，在粵語流行曲發展上地位舉足輕重，對樂壇的影響可謂歷久不衰。鼓手陳友後進來 軍電影界，集導演、監製與演員於一身。他在最新執導的《兄弟班》中，更以樂隊的過去為題材。這部仿自傳式的電影，深以 情回望樂隊組成的過程；片中回憶當年非法使用天台綵排的
辛酸，以及各成員在邁向成名途中所遇到的障，礙 懷舊中洋溢幽默感。
以 Abba 樂隊熱門金曲作插曲的賣座電影《媽媽咪呀！》於2008 年上映歌， 迷及影迷引頸待期 十年之後，續集《咪媽媽 呀！開心再嚟》終於面世。跟上集一樣，《媽媽咪呀開！ 心再嚟》運用瑞典傳奇樂隊 Abba的金曲構， 成一部輕鬆浪漫的喜劇。除了上一集的原班人馬 Amanda Seyfried、Pierce Brosnan、Colin Firth、Stellan Skarsgård、Christine Baranski 及 Julie Walters 之外，新的一集有還 Lily James 及 Cher 一同加入，與大家一起載歌舞載 。
電視選節目 單上新增了「音樂會」項，目節目包括位多 音樂名家的現場演奏，非值常得欣賞。月本 新增節目包括南非爵士小號手Hugh Masekela（參閱54頁關於他的故事）於巴黎爵士音樂節的演出、音樂會系列《Austin City Limits》其中一集以樂隊Coldplay 作主韓角、 國流行音樂節《KCON 2018》洛杉磯站以及台灣2018 年金曲等獎 。
