THERE IS ART IN EVERYTHING WE DO
ILLYCAFFÈ PARTNERS WITH THE VENICE BIENNALE AND THE MICHELIN GUIDE TO DRIVE CREATIVITY – BOTH ARTISTIC AND CULINARY – TO NEW LEVELS
IT BEGAN IN 1933 with a quest to offer the finest coffee in the world. But that was just the beginning. Today, illycaffè’s mission has evolved to delight all those who love what is good and beautiful in the world with the best coffee nature can provide, enhanced by the best technology and art.
This year, illycaffè has renewed its bond with the Venice Biennale for the 58th International Art Exposition ‘May You Live In Interesting Times’ to arrange a series of dinners in partnership with the Michelin Guide at Le Bombarde, Venice’s Arsenale restaurant. Guests will witness a creative dialogue between an artist, chosen by La Biennale curator Ralph Rugoff, and a Michelin-starred chef selected by the Guide.
‘We have developed a project in which contemporary art collides with cuisine, creating a truly one of a kind, unedited experience,’ says Massimiliano Pogliani, CEO of illycaffè. ‘Food, goodness and beauty, the core of our brand and our company’s mission statement, are kept alive thanks to these creative opportunities for exchange, which become a new artistic form.’
The dinner on 9 September sees Argentinian artist Ad Minoliti teaming up with illy Chef Ambassador Niko Romito of Italy’s three Michelin-starred Reale to create a unique sensory experience that reveals the artist’s expression of a modernist utopia in gourmet form.
On 23 September, Eurasian art collective Slavs & Tatars infuse their ruminations on cultural and geographical boundaries into the avant-garde European cuisine of Juan Amador, founder of Austria’s three Michelin-starred Amador.
Each artist also decorates an espresso cup for a special edition series within the illy Art Collection later this year.
