The Peninsula’s parent company Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels is the only hotel group to have a dedicated Research & Technology team – giving it total control over its in-room technology. That’s evidently paid off, with a vote of confidence from Marco Polo Club members for the second year in a row.

VINCENT WANG: The Peninsula has engineers who have developed everything from VOIP phones and nail dryers to tablets which control everything in-room.

CHRIS KUCWAY: I like any hotel where I can shut the lights off in one go when I go to bed.

ASIA’S BEST UP-AND- COMING DESTINATION BUSAN

You might know it for the Busan International Film Festival but there’s more to this coastal city than the silver screen – think seafood and seaside, street food and shopping, and a colourful culture village.

MARK TJHUNG: Beaches, Buddhist temples and a very big bridge – South Korea’s version of San Fransisco is getting very cool indeed.
