PEANUT AND TREE NUT ALLERGIES Cathay Pacific cannot guarantee that meals or the environment onboard will be free of peanuts or tree nuts; passengers with such allergies should make their own meal arrangements. Cathay Pacific will endeavour to provide cocktail snacks not containing peanuts or tree nuts to all passengers in the same cabin provided a documented request is received no less than 72 hours prior to the scheduled flight. Please be aware that substitution only applies to cocktail snacks and not to meals served to passengers. Peanuts and other tree nut snacks are also available in our snack baskets and passengers in all classes are free to take these during the flight. More information can be found at cathay.com.
ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION ON BOARD Alcohol will not be served to passengers who are under 18 years old. Consumption of alcoholic beverages brought from outside the aircraft or purchased onboard is not allowed. We reserve the right not to serve alcoholic drinks to passengers.
SAFETY Cathay Pacific takes the safety of its passengers and crew seriously. The following advice will help ensure your safety during flight.
CABIN BAGGAGE Due to Occupational Health & Safety regulations, cabin crew are advised not to lift or carry passengers’ cabin baggage. Passengers should check in any cabin bags that they are unable to lift into the overhead compartments. Any cabin baggage in excess of the allowable size or weight limits will be loaded with checked baggage. Where possible, our cabin crew will assist passengers with disabilities, those who are frail or infirm, the elderly, minors travelling alone and passengers travelling with small children. Aircraft coat closets are designed for stowing coats and jackets only. Due to regulatory requirements cabin crew may ask for certain personal items to be stowed during take-off and landing.
PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PED) Wi-Fi or Bluetooth-enabled devices should be switched off or set to flight mode for the duration of your flight. On Wi-Fi-enabled flights, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions can be turned on while flight mode is in use. When the ‘No Mobile’ sign is off, airplane mode can be switched off. The use of certain personal electronic devices is restricted inflight, as they may interfere with the aircraft systems and must remain off inside the aircraft. Where these devices have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functions, they must be disabled inflight. If you lose your device in your seat do not adjust the seat until it has been located by cabin crew. Larger electronic devices such as laptops, notebooks and portable DVD players must
be stowed away for taxi, take-off and landing. Charging of personal electronic devices using in-seat power is not permitted during taxi, takeoff and landing. No personal electronic devices may be plugged into the aircraft’s utility electrical power supply outlets, except for electric shavers which may only be used in the appropriate sockets in the lavatories. Aircraft utility electrical power outlets are not for consumer products. Personal electronic devices that are prohibited from use at all times are: radios and transmitters, such as televisions, AM or FM or digital radios, walkie-talkies, amateur radio/transceivers, citizen band (CB) radios/scanners and remote controlled devices/toys; network and connecting devices, such as wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) devices; personal appliances, such as air purifiers, smokeless cigarettes and electric massagers; domestic appliances, such as kettles, irons, heaters, hair dryers and electrical inverters/converters. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones are prohibited and must not be transported on passengers, in carry-on baggage or in checked baggage. Passengers can refer to cathay.com for more details or follow the cabin crew instructions.
MEDICAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON BOARD Cathay Pacific allows medical personal electronic devices to be used inflight if advance notice has been provided. Only certain devices can be connected to the inflight laptop power 110V AC outlets. We cannot guarantee that every aircraft is equipped with the inflight laptop power 110V AC outlets or that the outlets will be serviceable and therefore we recommend that devices are self-powered (using dry cell or approved gel-type battery packs). All critical devices should be entirely self-powered. All batteries must be carried in accordance with the relevant authority regulations and requirements for safety, security and hazardous material. For more details visit cathay.com.
SHARPS DISPOSAL Sharps boxes are provided inflight for disposal of sharps like syringes or ampoules. Please ask our crew for assistance.
SMOKING IS PROHIBITED All Cathay Pacific flights are NON-SMOKING flights; this includes e-cigarettes. All toilets have smoke detectors installed. Smoking anywhere onboard or tampering with smoke detectors is a prosecutable offence and can incur a fine of up to HK$50,000 and a maximum of two years’ imprisonment under the Laws of Hong Kong.
DISRUPTIVE AND DANGEROUS BEHAVIOUR Cathay Pacific has a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy towards unruly behaviour onboard. It is a legal requirement that you follow the instruction of our crew at all times. Offenders are subject to prosecution. All Cathay Pacific flights are governed by the Laws of Hong Kong. Offences include any person onboard who:
• wilfully obstructs a member of the crew of the aircraft in the performance of their duties
• without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with any instruction given by the crew for the purposes of protecting the safety of the aircraft, people or equipment onboard, or maintaining good order and discipline
