Couple compensated after chengguan attack
Li Mei, a pregnant woman in Xining, and her husband received 135,000 yuan ($22,250) in compensation after she was attacked by local chengguan, or urban patrol officers, in September, Xinhua News Agency reported on Saturday. Several chengguan scuffled with another local female resident and injured Li, who stood nearby. Li was forced into labor because of her injuries. Local authorities said on Saturday that seven chengguan have been warned, removed from office or discharged.
