It’s a dog’s life

Residents of a Miao ethnic community in Guizhou province carry a dog on a sedan chair as part of a festival to show respect to the animal and pray for favorable weather. The event, known as the Dog-Carrying Festival, is also held to thank the animal for helping Miao ancestors find water. The residents are from Jiaobang village, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture.
