China-standard trains begin service

China Railway Corp announced on Monday that its so-called China-standard bullet trains, have started operating in northeast China’s Liaoning province. The first train departed from Dalian for Shenyang on Monday. It is the first passenger service using China-standard trains, also known as electric multiple units, or EMUs, said Zhou Li, the company’s head of technology management. “China independen­tly owns the design of the EMU, and it will be a leading model for China to export to the world,” Zhou said.
