Malaysia trade up 14.8% in January
Malaysia’s trade increased by 14.8 percent in January, boosted by trade with its major trading partners and exports in all major sectors, official figures showed. Total trade amounted to 135.77 billion ringgit ($30.4 billion), according to the statistics announced by the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Exports posted double-digit growth of 13.6 percent to 70.24 billion ringgit, the highest monthly export value ever recorded for the first month of the year. Imports expanded by 16.1 percent to 65.53 billion ringgit, with a trade surplus of 4.71 billion ringgit.
