Open regatta set for September

The Head of the Royal Canal Open Regatta will be held on Sept 22-24 in Beijing.

A forum on rowing will be held on the opening day, followed by two days of competition featuring Junior Cup, Varsity Cup, Business School Cup, Masters Cup and Elite Cup for double sculls, quadruple sculls and eights.

Last year’s event, a regatta for the public, was held at Beijing’s Daoxianghu Lake, attracting more than 200 athletes and 30 teams, including representatives from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Xi’an Jiaotong University and University of Otago from New Zealand.

The Hong Kong club was the biggest winner with six golds and one silver.
