Central bank set to cut its reserve requirement ratio
Starting on Wednesday, the People’s Bank of China will cut the reserve requirement ratio for most commercial and overseas banks by 1 percentage point to boost small businesses and improve financial stability and liquidity. The central bank said the move aims to create a sound environment for high-quality growth and supply-side reform. The ratio cut comes after the country’s GDP expanded 6.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, unchanged from the previous quarter.
PLA will hold live-fire drill off Zhejiang province
The People’s Liberation Army will conduct a live-fire drill in the waters of the East China Sea near Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Maritime Safety Administration.
