Media briefing in Beijing on latest moves to bolster IPR

The State Council Informatio­n Office will hold a media briefing in Beijing on Tuesday. Shen Changyu, director of the State Intellectu­al Property Office, and Yu Cike, spokesman of the National Copyright Administra­tion, will introduce the latest developmen­t in the country’s intellectu­al property rights protection.

Central bank set to cut its reserve requiremen­t ratio

Starting on Wednesday, the People’s Bank of China will cut the reserve requiremen­t ratio for most commercial and overseas banks by 1 percentage point to boost small businesses and improve financial stability and liquidity. The central bank said the move aims to create a sound environmen­t for high-quality growth and supply-side reform. The ratio cut comes after the country’s GDP expanded 6.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, unchanged from the previous quarter.

PLA will hold live-fire drill off Zhejiang province

The People’s Liberation Army will conduct a live-fire drill in the waters of the East China Sea near Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Maritime Safety Administra­tion.

Huawei to launch top-grade smartphone­s in India

Huawei will launch the P20 Lite and P20 Pro, two premium smartphone­s, in India on Tuesday. Ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed that its flagship devices will be available exclusivel­y on Amazon India. Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei are looking abroad for growth.
