Education: English platform seeks Filipino teachers

Amid the English-learning frenzy in China, there is an increasing demand for English teachers. Recently, 51Talk, an online English training platform in Beijing, announced a plan to recruit more English teachers from the Philippines to expand its product lines to more third and fourth-tier cities in the coming five years. “We are looking to add 100,000 online teachers from the Philippines in the next five years,” said Huang Jiajia, CEO of 51Talk. At present, the company has over 12,000 teachers from the country.
