A moment in time:
Running into happiness
On Jan 1, 1986, residents in Shanghai braved the chilly weather, running to mark the New Year. In recent years, the running trend has gripped China. More than 1,100 long-distance events were held in the country last year, attracting nearly 5 million runners from across the world, a sharp rise from the 22 held in 2011. To mark the New Year, on Monday, runners (right) passed the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, the venue of the China International Import Expo in November.
