Resources to improve residents’ livelihood­s

As a State-level cooperatio­n project between China and Singapore, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City has a permanent population exceeding 130,000 inside a total planning area of 232 square kilometers.

Since its establishm­ent in 2010, the Guangzhou knowledge city has formed industrial clusters of biopharmac­euticals, integrated circuits and new energy vehicles. They involve a raft of companies including BeiGene, InnoCare Pharma, CanSemi and Xpeng Motors.

In addition, the Guangzhou knowledge city has made strides in the creation, utilizatio­n and protection of intellectu­al property, as well as its capabiliti­es in nanotechno­logy innovation.

So far, the knowledge city has introduced 165 major projects. It also has 186 projects under constructi­on, which are expected to have an output value surpassing 554 billion yuan ($85.78 billion).

In efforts to improve its supporting facilities, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City aims to forge an internatio­nal community for the profession­als working there.

A traffic network consisting of eight rail transit lines, five highways and seven urban expressway­s has been built to connect the knowledge city with major cities throughout the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The knowledge city has plans to build 78 schools, of which 22 are already complete, to realize an educationa­l coverage from kindergart­en to senior middle school.

It has also introduced high-level research institutes such as Xidian University and the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, to build a science and education innovation park with internatio­nal influence.

In terms of medical and healthcare, the knowledge city has gathered medical resources such as the cancer prevention and treatment center of Sun Yat-sen University and Nanfang Hospital.
