CIIE brings about investment and trade opportunities for Jiangxi
China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Jiangxi provincial government have been hosting an investment promotion event in East China’s Jiangxi province from Saturday to Tuesday with the aim of encouraging exhibitors of the China International Import Expo to invest in and support quality development of the region.
The event centers on promoting the key characteristics and advantageous industries of Jiangxi, including electronic information, virtual reality, equipment manufacturing and new energy. Themed “CIIE entering Jiangxi”, the event comprises five activities — an activity on economic and trade collaboration, a matchmaking session, an on-site visit, a 100-day countdown to the CIIE, and an activity related to the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, an important part of the CIIE.
More than 100 exhibitors, promotion institutions of the CIIE and members of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum have attended the four-day event.
The participants are involved in all six exhibition areas of the CIIE: intelligent industry and information technology, medical equipment and healthcare products, consumer goods, trade in services, food and agricultural products, and automobiles.
A special session of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, centered on the digital economy of Jiangxi, was held on Saturday, which marked the first time for the Hongqiao Forum to take place in Jiangxi to support regional economic growth.
Industry-leading figures were invited to share insights into the matter. Scholars and experts, including Fang Xingdong, a professor at Zhejiang University, Lin Hui, an academician of the British Academy and a professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Huang Qunhui, director of the Institute of Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences have been among those to speak at the forum.
The Jiangxi Department of Commerce also distributed promotional materials to the participants, including an investment guide for Jiangxi, an investment promotion brochure and a key business attraction project brochure featuring 1,118 key projects related to sectors such as digital economy, equipment manufacturing, new energy, and green food. These projects have a combined investment of more than 1.3 trillion yuan ($192.2 billion).
According to officials at the Department of Commerce of Jiangxi Province, trade missions from Jiangxi comprising over 5,000 companies and institutions clinched deals worth $1.07 billion during the past four editions of the CIIE.
The first two days of the event were held in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi province, and the second half took place in Ruijin, a countylevel city in Jiangxi.
Similar investment promotion events were held in Sichuan and Liaoning provinces last year, with a large number of foreign companies in attendance.
