Mario Tsai

Titled Origin, Hangzhou-based designer Mario Tsai's new collection is a reflection on the decay of human instincts induced by modern technology. The collection's six pieces — stools, benches and a floor lamp — were crafted with leftover logs from nearby lumber mills, expressing the idea of locality in contemporary design. The logs were kept in their original size and roughly shaped with an axe and fire, creating naturally occurring cracks on their surfaces.
