Shinya Oguchi

Drawing on Japanese design traditions, Shinya Oguchi’s Take collection — shown at SaloneSatellite in Milan this year — is a celebration of bamboo and the material’s ability to adapt to a variety of forms and shapes while retaining its strength. The lantern and small tables employ fastening and bending techniques to produce curved lines and surfaces, the lightweight pieces a study in rigidity and flow, the bamboo a supple ribbon that forms a hardy structure without breaking the design’s rhythm.
