SHARING THE GIFT OF FOOD WITH THE UNDERPRIVILEGED IN HONG KONG

FOR THE THIRD YEAR in a row, Marco Polo Club partnered with Hong Kong-based charity Food Angel, a food rescue and food assistance programme, for ‘The Gift of Food’ campaign during Chinese New Year.

This festive season Marco Polo Club members generously donated over HK$490,000 – including HK$18,800 in monthly donations – to help Food Angel serve more than 50,000 hot meals to Hong Kong’s underprivileged communities.

Founded in 2011, Food Angel now ‘rescues’ 35 tonnes of edible surplus food that would otherwise be disposed as waste from the food industry every week. Following strict safety protocols, these food items will then be prepared as nutritious meals in its central kitchen and distributed to those in need.
