As the holiday season approaches, you may be thinking about purchasing the perfect present for the man in your life. Here, we speak with PRAVIN DASWANI, founder of DIZAIN, an online retailer that offers premium merino wool sweaters.
How did you find yourself in the world of men's fashion?
I started my career in knitwear manufacturing, where I gained valuable experience working with different yarns and knits. When I moved into the corporate world, I honed my sales skills and developed an ear for listening to customer needs. I was always interested in creating classic apparel for men, and so I carved out my own concept for a clothing company.
What’s the inspiration behind your brand?
All over – and, more importantly, in Hong Kong – I found it difficult to easily access classic and premium quality men’s knitwear that didn’t cost a fortune. My frustrations led me to think that there must be an easier and better way for men to shop well; so, DIZAIN was born.

What sets your sweaters apart from others on the market?
Our sweaters are made from 100 percent Woolmarkcertified Australian merino wool that is natural, sustainable and supreme in quality. They are extremely soft yet, at the same time, machine-washable and hassle-free to care for. We rigorously test the fit and quality throughout the manufacturing process, to ensure that our sweaters stand the test of time. Sustainability is very important to us and our sweaters are produced responsibly by the best local knitting factories. Yarn from defective knit panels is re-wound and re-used to reduce waste, and we only use recyclable packaging.
Do you have a favourite DIZAIN piece?
One of our best-sellers – and my personal favourite – is the charcoal grey crew neck; it’s a timeless staple for any wardrobe.
What type of man can wear your sweaters?
Our sweaters are everyday essentials for any man; they fit flatteringly on different body types and suit all kinds of lifestyles. They can be adapted to any aesthetic – from understated to edgy – and effortlessly transition you from the boardroom to bar.
Can you give us a top tip for men’s shopping?
I think it’s most important to purchase something that we can easily wear and feel good in. A versatile piece that can be worn in a multitude of ways is always a safe bet, dressed up or down to suit all occasions.
