New Research to Know About

-

According to a recent study published in medical journal Neurology, your stamina, or the time it takes for you to reach peak exhaustion during exercise, can be linked to your risk of dementia. The study followed 191 women from Sweden over a 44-year period, and found that women with high stamina during cardio fitness had an 88 percent lower risk of developing dementia than those who were moderately fit. Moreover, the average age at the onset of dementia was 11 years older in the group of women with higher fitness stamina levels. While the study is limited in that factors like genetics and cognitive stimulation weren’t involved, the research does contribute to the growing body evidence that there are modifiable risk factors for dementia.
