How can expats stay healthy in a new destination?

Being sick in an unfamiliar country can be a big issue, especially if you’re alone. That’s why taking good care of yourself is so important when you’re relocating. Here are some tips to consider before your journey.

#1 Prepare medical documents

Understanding more about your health is never a bad thing. Before moving to your new destination, get a comprehensive health check – including any required vaccinations – to make sure you’re in tip-top shape. Don’t forget to take any medical documents with you on the move.

#2 Search nearby facilities

According to recommendations from the World Health Organization, adults aged 18 to 64 should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity per week, to reduce health risks. So, search for fitness centres and the nearest trails in your new home before you move; also find where the nearest clinics and hospitals are for emergencies.

#3 Seek help from professionals

To reduce the stress caused by moving, look for professional relocation companies, who offer not only moving services, but also important destination services such as orientation and home finding.
