HONG KONG ACADEMY
A FAMILY’S PERSPECTIVE The Beecroft family are British/ Australian, with children in Grade 1 and Grade 5 at HKA
We were initially attracted by HKA’s focus on the “whole child”, the fantastic facilities and the positive buzz that pervades the school. We’ve been members of the HKA community since our eldest son started Kindergarten in 2014 and over the years, we have seen that kids at the school aren’t just academically confident; they’re also artistic, curious, articulate, empathetic, athletic and open-minded. They are adaptable and able to utilise technology to suit their purposes. They can present comfortably to a range of audiences. And they have an understanding, right from the beginning, of a responsibility to others and to the planet.
There are some truly talented and exceptional staff and teachers at HKA – we feel very lucky. There’s also a true sense of community that we have loved from the beginning. HKA has been a great choice for us and a wonderful environment for our children.
A NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL
Founded in 2000, HKA is an international, nonprofit school for ages three to 18 years. We focus on how children learn as well as what they learn. Our award-winning campus, exceptional faculty, unique educational programmes and highly engaged community provide a happy and healthy learning environment. We’re one of only seven fully authorised, three-programme IB World Schools in Hong Kong. All HKA students graduate with an HKA Diploma and the Global Citizen Diploma Certificate; the majority also sit for the IB Diploma or choose IB certificate courses.
What’s new?
HKA has added a series of dedicated spaces for the 2021-22 school year, including an Early Childhood kitchen, Mandarin cultural centre, two additional music rooms and a Primary School counselling centre.
