A FAMILY’S PERSPECTIVE Pauline and Andy are from Hong Kong and are parents of Cyrus (13), who’s in Year 9 at Mount Kelly.

Pauline: Three years ago, a good friend mentioned Mount Kelly to me, and since our son Cyrus wasn’t really fitting into studying in his traditional local school (he’s a very active, talkative kid!), I joined a Mount Kelly briefing session. The school impressed me with the passion of the teachers, the hightech teaching tools and the facilities. Lessons are conducted in small groups, so I felt it would be a good fit for Cyrus. Luckily, he got an offer.

Within a couple weeks of Cyrus starting at Mount Kelly, I could see he was happy and had confidence to do lots of challenging things. Music, Science and French are his favourite subjects, and his English has really improved. The school provides a wide variety of sports activities – he especially enjoys rock climbing.

I also like the Shackleton Programme, which helps Cyrus to develop, and encourages him to learn through adventures. Plus, the teachers and staff give Cyrus lots of chances to do his best – despite his occasional bad behaviour! In other schools, he might have been ignored or isolated instead.
