LPGA Money List’s top ten golfers to compete in tournament
Competition is expected to heat up this coming 27th to 30th October, as 78 golfers comprising of 64 LPGA tour players, will compete at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2016. Work will certainly be cut out for defending champion Jessica Korda as she attempts to defend her 2015 championship against the likes of New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn and Canada’s Brooke Henderson, ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively on the LPGA Money List.
Finishing 9th during her debut on Malaysia’s capital back in 2012 as an amateur, Jutanugarn is fired up for an opportunity to improve upon her results. “I’m really excited about returning to Kuala Lumpur for the tournament. I’ve always enjoyed playing here since I first played back in 2012. It’s been a great year for me so far and I’m feeling good at the moment, so I’m looking forward to improving on last year’s result,” said the 2nd ranked golfer on the LPGA list.
Other notable names in this year’s line-up include Korean trio Sei Young Kim, In Gee Chun, and Amy Yang, as well as Anna Nordqvist, Brittany Lang, Haru Nomura, and Stacy Lewis.
Fan favourite and former major winner Michelle Wie also returns with hopes of regaining the form she showed in her 2014 win at the U.S Women’s open.
“Thank you very much to the sponsors for inviting me back again for the tournament. The tournament has always been a well-organised and great event and I really enjoyed myself last year, so I think it’s fantastic that I get to be part of it again this year,” said Wie.
The seventh edition of the US$1.8 million purse will take place at the East course of TPC Kuala Lumpur where spectators will be treated to four days of first class action on-course and a feast of entertainment encompassing food, music and family activities.
