A Kaohsiung Charity Ride

Edrington organized a 500km bicycle ride across Taiwan to help raise funds

-

From 25 to 28 November 2016, over 50 cyclists from the Edrington’s regional offices will be riding from Taipei to the southern part of Taiwan, Kaohsiung in a bid to raise funds for Kaohsiung Autism Foundation. The Taiwanese charitable organization was established in 2000 and intend to help autistic individuals of all ages and their families. The charity event aims to raise $100,00 and includes contingents made up of 18 cyclists from Edrington Singapore and others from Taiwan, Korea and China. The ride will cover 500km along the coastlines of Taiwan over a challenging four-day schedule.

This charity ride is a sequel to the previous year’s initiative where a team of 18 cyclists from Edrington Asia Pacific offices raised over S$55,000 for local children’s charity, Child at Street 11 which supports low-income and dysfunctional families in Singapore. The team pedaled over 400km from Kuala Lumpur across three days for the fundraiser.

The charity ride is also part of the ‘International Giving More’ initiative under Edrington as it extends the principle of donating a share of the company’s profits within its international markets. As a result of this initiative, charities nominated by employees across the world benefited from Edrington’s commitment to sharing its profits with the communities in which it works in. “It is with these initiatives that Edrington Singapore is able to bring the charity rides project to life and keep it going for a second year – it was extremely motivating for the team to see what started out as a passion project take on a greater cause and further strengthening the charitable pillar in this region that Edrington builds itself on,” shares Martin Reimann, Regional MD for Asia Pacific.

As the team in the Asia Pacific region trains weekly in preparation for the ride, the drive for donation efforts have already begun and are now open to anyone who would like to support the cause. More information can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/ Charityridetaipeikaohsiung.
