Cosentino Group partners with prestigious contemporary designer Ron Arad, in the conceptualisation and production of 10 Layers, a unique convex ping pong table made from Silestone quartz by Cosentino. Sculpted from 10 slabs of Silestone quartz slabs, the table is a sculptural wonder; curvaceous and dramatic in a beautiful blend of monochrome colours.

Ron Arad waxes lyrical about his creation, “The idea for 10 Layers came in the extraordinary plant of Cosentino. When you look at the state of the art production of Dekton and Silestone, although you are there for a completely different purpose – cladding a tower, you can’t help but think ‘what else can we do with this magical material? We want to do something where we enjoy the material in a different way.”

“I’ve done a ping pong table made of stainless steel and bronze, not a flat one, but one with a curved belly in its length. The idea was to slow the game down and make the rallies longer. The layered stone and the CNC milling allows us to make it curved in all directions, i.e. a huge concave surface (convex in its underbelly) made of 10 different coloured layers. When you machine away the surfaces, the flat layers become perfect circles in sharp, contrasting colours.”
