RED ARROWS FACTS
•The Red Arrows – officially the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – performed their first display on May 6, 1965 at Little Rissington, Glos. •A 2016 Asia-pacific and Middle East Tour was a great example of how the Red Arrows represent the UK. A nine-week, 20,000-mile deployment visited 17 countries and drew a global audience of a billion people. •Three pilots are changed every year, so there are always three first-year pilots, three second-year pilots and three in their final year. •All nine members always fly in the same place in the formation; if one is unwell, they’ll fly in an eight-man formation. •During a fast turn a pilot can experience 8G – eight times his own body weight.
