Travelling For A Taste Of Truffle
The National Alba White Truffle Fair
The National Alba White Truffle Fair was established on 18th July 2003 by the Municipality of Alba, the Associazione Commercianti Albesi and the Giostra delle Cento Torri. And in 2007, just three years later, the fair was acknowledged as an international event attracting numerous tourists from all over the world, the heady combination of the food and wine culture always being the main pull factor.
In 2016, the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies included the International Alba White Truffle Fair among the 12 main national events, together with Vinitaly, Cibus and the Salone del Gusto, and since 2010 organizes and promotes the wines of its territory through Vinum, the National Wine Fair of Langhe, Roero
and Monferrato with over 550 labels for tasting.
Truffle is fragrance, poetry, mystery, but also “stellar” level cuisine and a status symbol with an everlasting charm. The International Alba White Truffle Fair is one of the main showcases of high gastronomy and Italian excellence, and is a great hub of cultural and gastronomic events that celebrate the “white gold” of the Langhe in all its shades. During all the weekends of the Fair there will be national and international chefs, local chefs, designers, writers and artists sharing the same passion for truffles and the culture of good food and good taste.
The essence of the Fair, on every Saturday and Sunday in October and November, is the Alba White Truffle World Market. During this event, the Alba
Truffle Show takes place, as well as being an immersive experience where you can discover the organoleptic characteristics of Tuber magnatum Pico or the wines of the Langhe Roero and Monferrato area, walong wiith the Truffle Sensory Analysis and the Wine Tasting Experience, is also entertainment, culture and fun.
Every weekend of the Fair, exceptional guests from the world of entertainment and the media talk about the scents of truffles in all manner of diverse ways: debates, meetings, book launches, talk shows, workshops and Show Cooking.
Dedicated to real gourmets, and now known as Foodies Moments, they celebrate the marriage between the great cuisine and the Alba White Truffle; among taste, luxury and beauty, guiding the public in starred kitchens to discover the secrets of the most important chefs at national and international level who, for the occasion, consecrate their inspiration for dishes specifically made for the Alba White Truffle.
Starting from the 88th edition of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, an important new feature will be introduced by the “REFOOD FOR ALL” project which will have as its ambassadors the guests Chefs of the Alba Truffle Show, and the restaurant owners of Langhe Roero and Monferrato will follow on the heels. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness on food waste, distributing 10,000 free and personalized REFOODS to the main catering and hospitality facilities of the area, so that they can provide their customers with practical and pleasant recycled cardboard bags to carry home their leftovers, without any embarrassment.
