Mickey Mouse Celebrates 90 Years
Disney and Bosa re-imagines the world’s most famous mouse on his 90th birthday
Mickey Mouse who helped create ‘A world that still makes us dream', takes on new life through the distinct creativity of Elena Salmistraro and the manufacturing excellence of Bosa, a leading producer of ceramic objects and accessories. This special project was conceived to celebrate 90 years of the “True Original” and the result exudes timeless energy, whilst making Mickey the star of the collaboration.
As Walt said ”I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse”. For many, Mickey Mouse was their childhood companion, whilst for others he was the representation of pop culture, he was and is well loved, and now this iconic character celebrates his 90th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, Disney created an outstanding interactive art exhibit in New York City titled "Mickey: The True Original Exhibition”.
Disney Parks & Resorts will also celebrate Mickey's 90th anniversary with a series of events at all sites around the world, including World's Biggest Mouse Party, a limited-time, global celebration of Mickey and Minnie. And the world's most famous mouse will also feature in lines of toys and plush dolls, fashion collections, bedding, beach and beauty gear, and more. There'll be re-edition of famous comics and new commemorative titles will also be released.
For this important limited edition figurine, Disney has chosen Bosa for its renowned expertise in high craftsmanship and the fantastic expression in its collections; a unique expressive force crafted through continuous experimentation and strong collaboration with the most promising design talents.
Among the Bosa designers, the proposal of Elena Salmistraro, creator of some of the brand's best sellers, managed to interpret the spirit of joy and vitality that represents Mickey, whom Walt Disney commented, “When people laugh at Mickey Mouse, it's because he's so human.”
As re-imagined by Elena, Mickey Mouse is dressed in shorts with stunning streetart decorations combined with a biker jacket and studded shoes; in a pallet of contrasting colours, refined shiny and matt effects, and three-dimensional textures envelop the character making him a modern city hero.
