Laguna Bintan Celebrates Inaugural

A Weekend Getaway Hosted by Golf Legend Sir Nick Faldo

Laguna Bintan integrated resort presented a once-in-a-lifetime weekend getaway with its inaugural Cassia Cup hosted by Laguna Golf brand ambassador and six-time Major winner, Sir Nick Faldo. Adding hype to Laguna Bintan’s vibrant lifestyle programming, the successful tournament saw 115 guests, 90 of whom were golfers competing over 18 holes in separate ladies and men’s divisions.

Golfers teed off at and engaged in close competition amidst the lush greenery of Laguna Golf Bintan overseeing the South China Sea. At the close of the golfing day, they attended the Cassia Cup Awards Dinner at XANA Beach Club, a chic party spot just a stone’s throw away from the hotel, where all were treated to international culinary delights. Beating out all the other golfers, Mr Antonuis Payumo amassed 41 stableford points and emerged as the 2018 Cassia Cup Champion, receiving the tournament trophy and a luxurious golf holiday package at Banyan Tree Phuket.

Sir Nick also led a putting masterclass on the first day and on the second day, tirelessly led a swing clinic followed by a three-hole playing lesson where he shared many insightful tips on course and game management inspiring the following crowd, who stayed close despite the ensuing heavy drizzle, enjoying the humour and banter of a six time major champion. “The Cassia Cup at Laguna Golf Bintan was a great event where I was able to interact with the golfers and fans. I love coming back to Laguna Bintan under the Banyan Tree Group. It is a beautiful integrated resort with a lovely beach and fine cuisine, a scenic golf course and an amazing spa for a total getaway,” enthused Sir Nick Faldo.
