World class Field Once Again at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

The 42nd Porsche Tennis Grand Prix has once again attracted the world’s best women tennis players to Stuttgart. Numerous top stars including Simona Halep of Romania, the French Open winner and current world number one, have already signed up for the long-standing tournament in the Porsche Arena from 20 to 28 April 2019. Elina Svitolina of Ukraine, the victor of the WTA Finals in Singapore, will also be appearing in Stuttgart, as will the world number two Angelique Kerber of Germany. The Porsche Brand Ambassador claimed the tournament in 2015 and 2016 and this year fulfilled her dream of winning Wimbledon.

In addition to the current title-holder Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, other exciting names in the Top 10 of players to have announced their coming are her teammate and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, plus Daria Kasatkina of Russia, one of 2018’s most improved players. They will be joined by the former Stuttgart winners Julia Görges of Germany who won in 2011, and Maria Sharapova of Russia, three time title holder in 2012, 2013, 2014.

“The fact that we can already present tennis fans with a main draw field containing six top ten players makes us very proud and shows just how much the

top stars like to come to us in the Porsche Arena,” says Tournament Director Markus Günthardt. “The world No. 1, the winner of the WTA Finals plus the winners of the Paris and Wimbledon Grand Slams, it can’t get much better. The positive response of the players shows that the overall package is spot on here. I’m so happy for our spectators.”

Good news if you already have your choice tickets for the 2019 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. As part of a Christmas special, the first 444 people with tickets will receive the “40:LOVE” book; a glittering history of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Spread out over the 640 pages are photos and amusing anecdotes of great players the likes of Tracy Austin, Martina Navratilov­a and Steffi Graf.
