THE ROLEX SERIES 8 WORLD CLASS GOLF TOURNAMENTS
One of the most important initiatives in the Tour's history, the Rolex Series elevates 8 world class golf tournaments into unmissable sporting occasions.
From the elegant environs of Wentworth to the burgeoning metropolis of Dubai, via the plains of South Africa and the rugged links of Scotland, the Rolex Series creates an unprecedented calendar of global golfing showpieces. Many of the biggest names in golf will descend on some of the world's most iconic destinations to do battle for the enhanced prize money and Race to Dubai points that a Rolex Series tournament victory will bring.
With a clear focus on innovation, the Rolex Series will entertain golf fans like never before: on TV, online and on the course.
Shane Lowry won Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at the last hole after tapping in his close-range birdie putt to earn his first Rolex Series title.
A delighted Lowry said: "It was an emotional roller-coaster today. I obviously went out with the lead by a few and before I knew it, I was four behind. I was brave out there today. I grounded out well and I'm over the moon, I'm just so grateful that I've won this and I'm so happy. I'm going to really enjoy it because you just don't know when it's going to happen again.”
"It's nice to have a star beside my name and to win a Rolex Series event. We are very lucky to be able to play Rolex events on The European Tour. They have done a great job putting these events together and I'm just over the moon to have one of them."
Richard Sterne was pleased with his performance despite being unable to end his wait for a seventh title.
He said: "I'm just glad that I gave a good performance this week with a strong field. It's been a while since I've had a decent tournament, so I'm pretty happy with the way I performed. Thanks to Abu Dhabi and HSBC for putting on a magnificent event, and Rolex, as well. I appreciate it."
